Edit

Showing skill in editing is difficult—as an editor, your job is to keep the content as the author intended, only making whatever tweaks and changes necessary to improve the original content.

In my career, I’ve edited hundreds, maybe thousands of pieces of content. Sensitive company documents, blog articles, social media posts, job advertisements, you name it, I’ve edited it.

SEO Content

Ranking high in organic search is a priority, now more than ever. In working with SEO experts, I know how edit SEO-driven content in a way that preserves a company’s writing guidelines.

Examples:

The newest tool for writers: AI. Helpful, but it needs help.

AI services are being used more and more to write successful copy. But it takes an editing eye to turn AI-written copy into a finished product.

As an experienced editor, I know how to:

  1. Write the correct prompts so AI can deliver what’s needed.

  2. Choose the best option from what AI provides.

  3. Improve the AI-written option using my own expertise, making the finished product my own.

Guest Content

When guest contributors to the Hudl blog were a priority, I managed a group of coaches and athletic directors who contributed content. This included creating a style guide specific for guest writers.

In addition to providing timelines and deadlines, I also edited their drafts and published their work to the Hudl blog. We were able to share content from experts while also maintaining our brand standards.

Team Collaborations

The Need: During my time on Hudl’s in-house Content team, I saw the need for us to come together as a team and learn from each other.

My Solution (part I): I organized monthly meetings, first as Content Critiques, to give us a chance to share what we were working on before it was finished. We could gather feedback and share our knowledge with our team members.

My Solution (part II): I developed the monthly meeting into Content Collaboration, a time for one person or a small group to take the lead on sharing their personal expertise on a subject. We took turns presenting, even bringing in leaders from outside our team to introduce new ideas and expand our collective knowledge.

Result: Our entire team was able to come together once a month to gain new insights. In short, these meetings helped us level up our skills as individuals and as a team.
